DAY 69, MATTHEW 1 AND 2

KEY VERSE:  Matthew 1:18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was with child of the Holy Ghost.

REFLECTIONS:
As I thought on this passage , I saw that Mary had faith in God and family.  When the angel came and told Mary that she was highly favored, Mary demonstrated obedience in being the mother of the Holy Child.

Joseph was a man who always did right and obeyed God too, but he didn't want to disgrace Mary publicly.  So an angel of the Lord appeared to him and reassured him “…fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”  1:20-21

APPLICATION:
Can we humble ourselves to the Lord?  I've learned Joseph didn't quit, but took Mary to be his wife.  So let's make it our goal to be like Christ, who came …to seek and to save that which was lost, Luke 19:10.
