DAY 79, Mark 1-3

Good Morning! Our names are Jason and Madison Butcher and we were asked to bring a devotional thought from Mark 1-3.

KEY VERSES:  Mark 1:34-35 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

REFLECTIONS:  Can you kids imagine going through an entire day with your mom and dad without saying a word to them?  That’s CRAZY!  Well, guess what -- Jesus couldn’t either.  In this chapter Jesus is starting His ministry and He is very busy.  He is healing sick people, casting demons out of people, making blind people see and crippled people walk.  I know sometimes you kids get busy with school and playing and all kinds of fun things.  But it’s always important that we have our prayer time every day.  If Jesus our Savior thought it was the best way to start His day, then I would say it’s the best way to start our day.  Now, I know that some of you guys are sleepy heads in the morning (like my kids), so it might be easier to pray some other time in the day.

APPLICATION:

(Jason)  Jesus loves when we talk to him.  This week, if you don’t already have a quiet time with Jesus, start one. You’re never too young to pray.  And if you can’t read a Bible story, ask Mom and Dad to help you.  I know they would LOVE it!

(Madison) Hi!  My name is Madison.  Every night after my dad tucks me in I pray.  Even though you may be busy you should always make time for God.  Lots of my prayers have been answered.  Like when my grandma was sick she got better.  And when my other grandma had a kidney stone she got it removed, and now she is also better.  Anyway, I think it is very important to pray because you are telling God your thoughts and asking Him to help you.  Sometimes He answers “no,” but it’s okay; He has a plan.

ADULTS -  How are we doing in our prayer lives?  Is it a duty, or a special time we can spend with our Savior? As parents are we showing our kids that we have a prayer life?  Or are they setting the example for us?  Let’s remember no matter how hectic things get, there is nothing more important than a daily time with our Savior.

Thank you for being a part of the 100-Day Challenge. Thanks for reading, and you have a blessed day!

In Christ, Mr. Jason and Maddy
